A busy evening for Shift 2 culminated with a commercial fire in an auto body shop off Stanley Road. Dispatch alerted the Burton Fire District and Beaufort Fire Department to a structure fire at the old Visual Fantasy Auto Body Shop at the intersection of Stanley and County Shed Road. Dispatch advised receiving multiple calls of smoke and flames showing. First in crews arrived and found heavy fire coming from the office area of the one story structure.
E824 arrived on scene and positioned on the A-side and stretched a 2-1/2" attack line to the front door. Lt. Stan Ganshow and his crew forced the front door and began to darken the fire while other arriving crews worked to open the structure and vent. E823 layed in water supply from County Shed Road to E824. Primary search of the structure was given an all clear of victims, but sadly four dogs were lost to the fire.
Crews spent about 3 hours on scene for overhaul and assisiting Captain Bostain and Lt. Ganshow with the investigation.
Units on scene: IC-Captain Jim Still, E824, E823, E821, E822, E825, SQD851, 802, 803, BCEMS2, BCSO
