On Monday August 31, 2009, members of Shift 1 participated in multi-company night drills put on by Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort Structural Fire Department and the MCAS Beaufort
Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters. The night drill consisted of live fire training on the ARFF Marines’ new aircraft fire simulator. Teams converged two at a time on the simulator. One team attacked the cabin fire while the other extinguished the fire outside of the aircraft. The training, which was coordinated by Captain’s Debora R. Lewis and Darren Vaughn, was a spectacular insight into the world of Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting and a great training experience. The members of Shift 1 were enlightened to the spirit, discipline, skill, and endurance it takes to get the job done.
