Burton Fire District’s Commissioner Cornelius Dorsey resigned from the Commission Board in November 2007. He was presented with a plaque for his eight years of service at the Commissioners meeting on Wednesday.
Commissioner Dorsey is a retired Marine and began serving at Burton in 1999. He was an asset to the Board, as well as the District throughout his entire service. Commissioner Dorsey was a dependable and devoted individual, and could always be counted on for an opinion and was not afraid to ask questions. He attended every meeting he possibly could and continuously carried out his duties.
Commissioner Dorsey played a huge part when annual budget decisions had to be made and helped with the purchasing of new apparatus and building new facilities.
The Burton Fire District is grateful for his time, and is truly sad to see Mr. Dorsey leave. He has been assured that he is always welcome to take part in the department’s happenings.
Taking Mr. Dorsey’s spot on the Commission Board is a new face, Commissioner Herbert Burnes. The district is excited to see what Mr. Burnes has to offer and welcomes him to Burton.
