Firefighter 1 Chris Lewis is officially pinned by his wife Laura

Firefighter Chris Lewis was awarded the rank of Firefighter 1 on August 26, 2009 after successful completion of department promotional exams. Firefighter Lewis joined the Burton Fire District in February 2007 as a volunteer firefighter while serving in the United States Marine Corps. As a volunteer, Firefighter Lewis attended classes offered by the SCFA meeting the requirements for interior structural firefighter, and was elected Burton Fire District Volunteer Firefighter of the Year in 2008. A decorated Iraq war veteran, Firefighter Lewis received an Honorable discharge in April 2008 from the United States Marine Corps having served his country for eight years. After his separation with the Marine Corps, Firefighter Lewis joined Shift 1 as a career firefighter.
