The Burton Fire District Firefighters took their new 2010 Pierce Quantum pumper truck on a tour of the community it will protect during the week of October 25th. The new truck will be utilized to replace aging apparatus as well as maintain appropriate and dependable apparatus reserves. The new fire truck was paid for largely through impact fees generated by development and will protect a largely commercial and industrial area.

The Quantum pumper, which meets both National Fire Protection standards as well as ISO insurance guidelines, was still being prepared for emergency response during the time of the tour; however, Burton Fire Chief Harry Rountree took advantage of that time to not only show the public their newest fire truck, but also to educate the public and say “thank you.”
“We want our citizens to understand what services we deliver, how we deliver them, and how this new fire truck will do that well into the future,” stated Rountree. “We also want to say thank you to the public for their support which allowed us to purchase this needed equipment.”

The Burton Fire District not only visited local schools within Burton to show the truck to the children and give both rides and an education to the teachers, but local area businesses participated as well. The firefighters who conducted the tour did so on thier off duty time and on a volunteer basis.

“What better way to educate our public on what our capabilities are, and who doesn’t want to ride on a fire truck?” stated Chief Rountree.

Who doesn't love a fire truck!

A demonstration of the truck's capabilities was given!

Students and teachers got an appriciation for the carrying capacity needs of today's multi-tasked fire service.

Students not only learned about the new truck, but some fire safety as well!

"Thank you" teachers for all you do for our community everyday!

We may have some new applications for the fire department soon!

Those of us in public service, firefighters and teachers, share a bond only we understand!

Teachers asked if we really had to bring them back....
