Serious head-on collision

A total of 8 people were transported to the hospital Friday night after a pair of accidents shut down Trask Parkway.
The first accident was dispatched to Burton firefighters as an accident involving 4 vehicles, one of which was on fire. When firefighters arrived, they found no fire but it was obvious that this was a serious accident that would require additional resources. Burton's headquarters engine, along with the paramedic engine responded to the incident. Three medic units from Beaufort County EMS and the EMS supervisor were on the scene as well.
While attending to the first accident, a second accident occurred less than a block away on Trask Parkway. Burton firefighters on scene split their manpower and attended to the second accident as well.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
